Carolyn was born in Vienna / Austria.

After compulsory school, she started working at the radio and traveling the world. Later, she got an acting education, toured as a cabaret artist (comedian) and started a career as a radio host until she finally became a presenter on television. Besides her jobs she went on a long journey every year always with a camera in her backpack and became a travel Journalist for Magazines.

In the year 2008 she started to turn her Photographs into an art context and had her first exhibition called “Schwarz/bunt (black/colored)” in Vienna. Several exhibitions followed with different themes like “reflections”, “rooms” or “numbers”.

Carolyn’s intension is not just about producing pictures that tell a story, but also about experimenting and playing with the medium of photography itself. For example, in the first exhibition “black/colorful” photographs were shown, which were manipulated in color by transforming individual parts of the picture into black and white.

Another exhibition "numbers", which was shown in Vienna and New York, consists of 42 small pictures of various numbers that Carolyn had collected over the years and which were made into a large whole. To list only a few topics.

The latest works deal with the meld.

For one year, the artist has been working on a special technique to transfer photos onto unusual surfaces, thus turning them into unique works of art. "What bothers me about photographic art is that it can be reproduced as much as you like. My photos should not only be visible as ordinary prints, but also be unique pieces created by merging with a natural material. It is a challenge to find the right stone for the suitable motif and to work the stone accordingly, so that the motif can be applied. To do this I take the natural contours of a rock and use them to define an image.”

It does not always have to be self-produced photos, even antique photos are used to play with.

Since 2016, Carolyn lives part time in Spain on her little farm further developing her technique by combining her photographic work with a wide variety of surfaces and materials.

Nach der Pflichtschule begann sie im Radio zu arbeiten und um die Welt zu reisen.

Später erhielt sie eine Schauspielausbildung, tourte als Kabarettistin und begann ihre Karriere als Radiomoderatorin, bis sie schließlich Fernsehmoderatorin wurde. Neben ihrer Arbeit machte sie sich jedes Jahr mit einer Kamera im Rucksack auf eine lange Reise und wurde nebenberuflich Reisejournalistin für Magazine.

Im Jahr 2008 begann sie ihre Fotografien in einen Kunstkontext zu setzen und hatte ihre erste Ausstellung mit dem Titel „Schwarz/Bunt“ in Wien. Es folgten mehrere Ausstellungen mit unterschiedlichen Themenkreisen wie „Spiegelungen“, „Räume“ oder „Zahlen“.

Carolyn sagt: "In meinen Fotografien dreht sich alles um das Alltägliche. Nichts ist geplant oder in Szene gesetzt, alles geschieht zu einem bestimmten Zeitpunkt und erzählt eine Geschichte."

Carolyns Intention ist nicht nur die Darstellung von Bildern die eine Geschichte erzählen, sondern auch das Experimentieren und Spielen mit dem Medium Fotografie. So wurden in der ersten Ausstellung „Schwarz/Bunt“ Fotografien gezeigt, die farblich manipuliert wurden indem einzelne Teile der Bilder in Schwarzweiß umgewandelt wurden. Eine weitere Ausstellung mit dem Titel "numbers", die in Wien und New York gezeigt wurde, besteht aus 42 kleinen Bildern mit verschiedenen Nummern des täglichen Lebens, die Carolyn im Laufe ihrer Reise-Jahre gesammelt und zu einem großen Ganzen zusammengefügt hat.

Die neuesten Arbeiten befassen sich mit der Verschmelzung.

Seit einem Jahr arbeitet die Künstlerin an einer speziellen Technik, um Fotos auf ungewöhnliche Oberflächen zu übertragen und sie zu einzigartigen Kunstwerken zu fertigen. " In den letzten 10 Jahren wurden meine Fotos in großen Formaten und in limitierten Auflagen auf Leinwand oder Dibond gedruckt. Was mich an der fotografischen Kunst jedoch stört, ist, dass sie beliebig oft reproduzierbar ist. Meine Fotos sollten nicht nur als übliche Abzüge sichtbar sein, sondern Unikate werden, die durch Verschmelzung mit einem natürlichen Material entstehen. Ich genieße die Herausforderung, den idealen Stein für das passende Motiv zu finden und den Stein dementsprechend zu bearbeiten, sodass das Motiv aufgebracht werden kann. Dazu nutze ich die natürlichen Konturen eines Felsens und verwende sie zur Definition eines Bildes.“

Dabei verwendet die Künstlerin nicht ausschließlich eigen produzierte Fotos, auch antike Fotos aus dem Familienalbum werden zum Spielen verwendet.

Seit 2016 lebt Carolyn Aigner zeitweilig auf ihrem Bauernhof in Spanien und entwickelt ihre Technik weiter, indem sie ihre fotografischen Arbeiten mit einer Vielzahl von Oberflächen und Materialien kombiniert.

Tras terminar la enseñanza obligatoria empezó a trabajar en la radio y a viajar por el mundo. Después hizo una formación actoral, fue de gira como artista de cabaré y empezó su carrera profesional como locutora de radio, hasta llegar a presentadora de televisión. A parte del trabajo, todos los años iba de viaje largo, equipada con su cámara, llegando así como segunda profesión a ser periodista de viajes para revistas.

En el año 2008 comenzó a posicionar sus fotografías en el mundo del arte con su primera exposición en Viena titulada "Schwarz/Bunt" ("Negro/Colorido"). A ello le siguieron varias exposiciones sobre diferentes temas, como por ejemplo „Spiegelungen“ ("Reflejos"), „Räume“ ("Habitaciones") o „Zahlen“ ("Números"). Carolyn dice: "Mis fotografías giran en torno a lo cotidiano. No se planea, ni se pone en escena, todo pasa en un momento concreto y cuenta una historia".

La intención de Carolyn no sólo es la presentación de fotografías que cuentan una historia, sino también poder experimentar y jugar con la fotografía. De esta manera en su primera exposición "Schwarz/Bunt" ("Negro/Colorido") se mostraron fotografías con colores manipulados convirtiendo parte de las mísmas en blanco y negro. Otra exposición, que tuvo lugar en Viena y Nueva York y se titula "numbers" ("Números"), está formada por 42 imágenes pequeñas con diferentes números de la vida diaria, que fueron coleccionados y unidos a lo largo de los años de viajes de Carolyn. Esto para mencionar solo algunos de los temas.Los nuevos trabajos tratan el tema de la fusión.

Desde hace un año, la artista está trabajando en una técnica especial, para traspasar fotos a superficies inusuales convirtiéndolos así en obras de arte únicos. "En los últimos 10 años mis fotos han sido impresos en grandes formatos y ediciones lilmitadas en lienzo o Dibond. No obstante, lo que me molesta del arte fotográfico es que se pueda reproducir ilimitadas veces. Mis fotos no debían ser simples copias, sino ejemplares únicos convertidos a través de la fusión con materiales naturales. Disfruto el desafío de encontrar la piedra ideal para el motivo adecuado y trabajar la piedra para poder traspasar la imagen. Para ello aprovecho el contorno de una roca y lo utilizo para definir la imagen."
Para ello la artista no sólo utiliza fotografías propias, sino también juega con fotos antiguas del album de familia.

Desde 2016 Caroly Aigner vive en una finca en España desarrollando cada vez más su técnica, combinando sus fotografías con una diversidad de superficies y materiales.
